Prayer of the Optina Elders

O Lord, grant me to meet all that the coming day may bring with tranquility of soul.
Grant me to surrender myself completely to Thy holy will.
At every hour of this day instruct and uphold me in all things.
Whatever tidings I may receive during the day, teach me to accept them with a tranquil soul and the firm conviction
that all things are in accordance with Thy holy will.
In all my words and deeds direct my thoughts and feelings.
In all unforeseen circumstances let me not forget that all things are sent down by Thee.
Teach me to act uprightly and wisely with every member of my family, disturbing and grieving none.
O Lord, grant me the strength to endure the weariness of the coming day and all events in the course of the day.
Direct my will and teach me to pray, to believe, to hope, to endure, to forgive, and to love. Amen.
